Keep the same routine. Mealtime, walks and bedtime should stay as close to the same time as before as possible. This will help them adjust quicker. Although their home has changed, their life with you has not.
Bring toys and bedding that smell like home. Dogs rely heavily on scent and a lot of new smells can overwhelm them. The familiarity of things from their old home can help bring them comfort.
Let them explore their new surroundings and get their bearings by sniffing around and going room to room.
Take your dog for a walk around the neighborhood or to a local dog park. This will help you both feel more comfortable in your new surroundings and the exercise and fresh air is an added bonus.
For an anxious pet, be sure to give them lots of extra love and attention for the first few weeks as they adjust to the new place. Affection can help calm an anxious pet and build their trust in you and their new surroundings.
I am reaching out to ask that you join me in supporting A Precious Child, where I am honored to be a Virtual Table Captain for their Annual Heroes of A Precious Child Virtual Luncheon. This luncheon will benefit Colorado children in need. Last year alone, APC provided opportunities and resources valued at $15 million to 57,390 underprivileged children and 20,047 adults. As a designated essential organization, their team is rising up to an unparalleled challenge during the coronavirus pandemic. They are on the frontlines, providing emergency essentials, such as hygiene items, cleaning supplies, diapers and wipes, clothing and other basic needs items among other program services. These resources are vital to help limit the spread of COVID-19 and provide much needed relief to our most vulnerable population. A Precious Child is facing two big challenges this year: more children are struggling and the economy has depleted funding for resources to help. Nearly 88,000 children in A Precious Child’s eight-county service area live below the Federal Poverty Level. 25% of the families they served experienced homelessness in the last year. A Precious Child serves families that were already struggling but need our help now more than ever.
In order for the organization to continue meeting the growing needs of disadvantaged and displaced children, they are hosting a virtual Heroes of A Precious Child Luncheon on April 1 to help raise vital funds in support of their programs.
Here’s What You Need to Know:
→ The Heroes of A Precious Child Virtual Luncheon will take place on April 1, 2021 from 11:30am-1:15 pm
→ The luncheon will feature inspirational stories from children and families served by A Precious Child programs, in addition to a powerful Keynote Speaker, Michael Oher, former NFL player and whose life the film, The Blind Side, was based. The event will also recognize the heroes in our community who are making a difference in the lives of children in need and will inspire others to learn more about the vital work they do.
With the challenging buyers market upon us, buying a new build might be something to consider. Here’s why…
VALUE: Some resale homes are priced above their true value, especially when considering that you might be paying more than what the home will appraise for during this tough, current market. Lot costs still remain lower than peak amounts which help to offset increased building material costs.
OPPORTUNITY FOR PERSONALIZATION: Getting to initially pick what goes into your home vs. having to refinish certain spaces, can save money in the long run.
QUICK MOVE-IN: Some buyers have available homes right now. Looking for a quick close without competing? This could the way to go.
APPRECIATION: Research says that new Colorado home construction generally has greater home appreciation potential than older Colorado homes. Also, many new builds can build equity before you even move in. If you get in early by starting with an empty lot and waiting the 9 months for your home to be built, you could lock in the best price point and be sitting on equity the day you move in.
ENERGY EFFICIENCY: Requirements to increase energy efficiency by government and utility companies are forcing Colorado builders to incorporate new and more efficient technology in order to lower consumption, which in turn lowers your utility bills. This effort also benefits the environment. You will be limiting your carbon footprint, all the while saving serious money compared to a drafty older house.
